The Vintage Line

The Vintage Line consists of the L, A/FH, and S Models These models have the 'classic' features for which CMB is best known.

Each Vintage Line model has the following features:

Tone rims

The tone rims are exclusive to Cedar Mountian Banjos. Developed by Lo Gordon, the all rosewood tone rim delivers a clean rich sound. The rim is nominally 11” x 9/16” with a decorative inlay band and hand-rubbed varnish finish.
Tone rims fitted with mahogany necks do not have 'caps'. Rims fitted with curly maple necks have curly maple caps and dowel sticks.

Necks

Mahogany necks are filled and finished to complement the rim. The curly maple necks are shaded to compliment the rims.
All necks in the Vintage line have:

Hand rubbed varnish finish.
Ebony fingerboard and peg head overlay.
Two-way adjustable truss rod.
Planetary tuners with either ebony or ivoroid knobs.
Geared fifth string tuner.
Bone nut.
"Spike" on the fifth string at 'A'.
Mother of pearl side dots.
A 'square' fifth string step and subtle volute at the peg head transition.

Dowel Stick

The neck and rim are joined by a dowel stick of the same wood and finish as the neck.

Hardware

Top-of-the-line nickel-plated hardware, including no-knot tailpiece, die cast shoes with
twenty-four hooks and nuts securing a grooved tension hoop are standard in all Vintage Line banjos.

All CMB are designed to facilitate a wide range of set-up and action heights (see Care and Maintenance). Please enquire for specific set-up requirements.

Model Options:

In order to address the tastes and preferences of a wide audience, several options are available in the L, A/FH and S models.

The plain L, A/FH and S models are the basis of our Vintage line. They have no peg head or fingerboard inlay. However, the simple, elegant ebony is highlighted by the nickel-silver hardware.

The L1, A1/FH1 and S1 models include a Cedar Mountain Banjo peg head inlay design is specific to each model. The L1 and S1 also include matching dot fingerboard markers. The A1 and FH1 have no fingerboard inlay.

The L2, A2/FH2 and S2 models have the same inlays as above plus matching square fingerboard markers.
