Vintage Line - L Model
The Vintage line has the classic features for which we are known - rosewood block "tone rim," mahogany neck or curly maple neck with rim cap, matching dowel stick, top-of the line nickel-plated hardware. All Vintage Line banjos are available in 11" or 12" pot sizes, with or without brass tone ring, frailing scoops, and custom scale lengths.

The L Model has been evolving since the first banjo I built in 1996, with a traditional style peghead and 22 fret neck (without frailing scoop).

The basic breakdown of our models...
Cedar Mountain Banjos are can be divided into two main categories:

The first category is the original Vintage Line. The Vintage Line consists of 4 different models;  L Model, the Appalachian(A), Foothills (FH), which is really a smaller version of the A, and S Model; each distinguished by peghead, heel shape, and neck width. Four trim levels are available on all Vintage models - Plain, I, II, and III.

The second category is the J Line which is our more basic line, with the J-100 being the entry level model, and the J-200 being a substantial step up. See photos and descriptions on the lower portion of this page and on the J Line page to compare.

Banjo-ukes fall under the J Line trim level. See the lower portion of the page and also the J-Line page for more details.

If you have any questions regarding our products or would like more information, please contact us.
The A (Appalachian) and FH (Foothills) models feature a simple peghead design and a "Dobson" style heel inspired by traditional handcrafted Appalachian banjos. These models are not "copies," but a natural evolution of banjo design. The A has a 25-1/2" scale and 1-5/16" neck width. The FH has similar look, but with a 24-5/8" sale with a 1-9/32" neck width for those desiring a shorter left arm reach and closer fret and string spacing. The FH plays well in G tuning, but can be either capoed or tuned up to A and double D.
The S Model is the namesake of Sheila Kay Adams, a gifted banjoist, storyteller and ballad singer from Madison County, NC. Both Sheila's requirements, and my fond recollections of Tom Staley's Bay State banjo were the inspiration for the S Model.

Specifications include a 25-1/2" neck and a narrower 1-3/16" nut width. The S has all the features of the other Vintage line banjos.
J Line - J-100
The J Line is cause for "Jubilation" here at CMB. The J-100 is our most basic, with a pleasingly "Dobsonesque" profile, a laminated maple "thin rim," and a hand rubbed varnish finish. One would consider this to be a superb entry-level or student banjo. These are available in 11" or 12" pots.
J Line - J-200
Banjo Ukes
The J-200 is more, with upgraded materials and the following: 10", 11", or 12" 2-ply maple rims, with or without brass tone ring, rosewood fingerboard & peghead cover, rim cap, side dots, 2-way adjustable truss rod, nickel-plated hardware, bone nut, hand rubbed varnish finish.
We are building some of the finest sounding banjo ukuleles available. They are available in 4 different scale lengths, and feature maple 8" rims (soprano, concert, tenor) or 10" rims (on baritone only); brass tone ring; matched neck wood w/black back stripe; rosewood fingerboard, peghead & rim cap; side dots; nickel-plated hardware; bone nut; planetary tuners; hand rubbed varnish.
Cedar Mountain  has banjos to fit most every size and pocketbook.
